Business INTELLIGENCE
The Business Intelligence manager digests volumes of information, determines relationships and summarizes the conclusions in a concise, professional report or presentation. Topics may include detailed competitive analysis, identifying new industry trends, identifying and tracking leading indicators, understanding market dynamics and market sizing. Conclusions must be supported by logical datasets, be well researched and logically modeled, well written and professionally presented. Simple summaries without insight are insufficient.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Using SAS (statistical software language) to pull US healthcare data from limited access internal databases. Use procedure trends to develop healthcare utilization models for business units, business cases, management requests, business development and strategic planning. Examples would be tracking the usage of primary total knee through inpatient, outpatient, patient age and disease diagnosis. Support users of the public online database and prepare reports from the limited access database when the public database is insufficient for business needs. |
· With a team of people, work on macroeconomic models using statistical correlations. Based on multiple variables, project future usage. This may be related to the market procedures or Zimmer forecasting. Candidate needs to fully understand the effects of variance and standard errors and differences between linear and logarithmic fitting. Candidate must also be able to pull data from multiple sources, including internal databases and external government databases. |
· Create useful dashboard presentation and triangulate a minimum of 3 data sources for each indicator. This would require integrating and potentially programming interfaces for the surgeon level data, hospital level data, procedure data and sales data. |
· Use MAUDE trends, SEC filings, P&L metrics, press releases, analyst reports, FDA 510k databases, PMA databases, patent trends, syndicated reports and industry trade journals to cross-tab activities and determine competitive priorities. |
· Help maintain competitive database of critical information. |
· Support Ad hoc requests of various types from management.
